The Jackson Blazer

A voice for the community

Pastor Hines, Lily Missionary Baptist Church & The City of Jackson embody the spirit of giving, as motorist line up to receive over $67,000 in gifts.

Pastor James L. Hines fulfilled his vision of giving on his birthday, as over 300 residents in their vehicles passed thru several stations at Lily Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, December 18, 2021, to receive gifts ranging from from frozen turkeys, to detergent, to a delicious hot meal to an envelope containing either $30, $60 or $100 in cash. “It is better to give than receive”, said Pastor James L. Hines, quoting Acts 20:35. “Things always turn out good when we follow what God said.” “I was somewhat challenged on this day because of the inclement weather. However, I remembered what my late father Pastor Joseph Hines said when I woke up to freezing rain.. “God called you to be faithful not successful.”
Agencies ranging from The State Police, City Police and Jackson Sheriff’s Dept, Herbal Life, Dunigans, Henry Ford Allegiance Health, The Jackson Blazer, all contributed to help unify Jackson on December 18, 202
