Marion Rogers passes away at 90.

Marion Elizabeth Rogers  

Departed life on Friday April 3, 2020 at the age of 90, at home with her children. She was born on March 20, 1930 in Jackson, Michigan to the late William & Agnes Cotton.  Marion was united in holy matrimony to James Rogers. Five children were born to this union; Rochelle, Renate, Royce, Roderick, and Realestine.  She is preceded in death by her mother and father, husband James Edward Rogers. Marion was also proceeded by four sisters, Nancy West, Joanne (Robert) Jones, Frances Bernard, and Barbara Poole; two brothers William Cotton Jr., Edward Cotton and her sister in law Carol Cotton, a special son in law James VanDyke.  She is survived by her daughters Rochelle VanDyke, Deborah (Stanley) Russell, Renate Hurd, Realestine Rogers; sons Royce (Ella) Rogers, James Faust, Roderick (Patricia) Rogers , Eartha Faust(Cassandra): two brothers, Robert (Helen) Cotton, Ronald Cotton; Grandchildren: Phillip Rogers, Eugene Hurd Jr., Erin Hurd, Tamika(Alfred) Wallace, Alisha (Kenjuan) Petty, Dorian Rogers, Matthew. Twenty-one great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren. All of Marions nieces and nephews are her children; and a special friends Helen Norris, Virginia Arnold-Roberson, Verda Hunter, and Patricia Morrison. Mom had a relationship with William and thought of as special son.  Marion graduated from Jackson High in 1948 and began traveling. She was trained in Culinary Arts in Canada and Ohio. Later returned to Jackson where she worked for March of Dimes as an office secretary, Jacobson’s Restaurants, Private homes, nursing homes, and the County Juvenile home. Marion was later hired by the Jackson County ISD as an instructor in the Culinary Art Program. She later retired from the Jackson Area Career Center, she was loved by her students.  She was a dedicated member of AME church until her health declined. But, she remained dedicated to the Lord until she transitioned in life. Marion was loyal to God, her family, and friends.  The Family of Marion E. Rogers would like to express a sincere and heartfelt appreciation to Elara Caring for both hospice and home health care services, St. Joseph Chelsea Hospital, Rev. Charlotte for the care provided for our Mother. Private Burial has taken place in Woodland Cemetery.
